Gladioli range in color from scarlet and purple to white, pink, and yellow. They are slender and grow straight up, reach about two to three feet high on average, or up to six feet for the really tall ones.

Gladiolus flowers dislike a heavy clay soil. A light loam or sandy soil suits them best. You should place them in an open, sunny area.

A Gladiolus bulb is called a corm. It is different than a true bulb, but for gardening purposes it is the same concept.

The corms may be covered two inches deep and heavy soils, and four to six inches deep in light soils. They should be planted eight to 10 inches apart, or half this distance for mass effects.
